P2B - Term 4 2016/17 - Our Learning
Last term, Primary 2B was learning about famous people. We enjoyed finding out about the life of Queen Elizabeth II and wrote to her at Buckingham Palace. We were very excited when we returned to school after the Easter holidays to find a reply waiting for us.
We had a great morning at the Sands of Sound beach exploring rock pools. Harry Rose, the field studies officer, explained how to search for sea creatures underneath seaweed and told us lots of interesting facts.
Frankies came into school for a visit. We got see and touch lots of species of fish and learn their different names. We had greatfun handling the fish! We learned about why it's important to use sustainable fish. We got to taste different types of fish and shellfish too. It was yummy!
Both Primary 2 classes had an action packed day during their visit to Sumburgh Head.
P2B - Term 3 2016/17 - Our Learning
We had lots of fun getting ready for Up-Helly-Aa. We designed and decorated shields.
We made mini Viking figures with our buddies from P7B.
We were very scary vikings!
P2A - Term 3 2016/17 - Our Learning
P2A enjoyed making heart hats for Valentines Day!
We all had great fun on Lerwick Up Helly Aa day!
Primary 2A were very happy to meet up with their primary 7A buddies. We drew some Viking ships and cut them out and put them on to a piece of coloured paper of their choice. Then we cut the second ship into wiggly strips and put it under the other ship to make it look like a reflection.
They looked GREAT at the end!
The Primary 2As were very happy to see their Primary 7 buddies. They made some Viking people out of tubes. We all had great fun with our P7 buddies and we can’t wait to see them next time!
Today we met up with our P7a buddies and they listened to us reading! Then we told each other about the holidays! We really enjoyed meeting up with our buddies from P7a.
P2B - Term 2 2016/17 - Our Learning
Primary 2B pupils have been busy learning about time this term. We have been practising o'clock and half past as well as counting in fives around the clock face.
We have enjoyed playing 'Stop the Clock' on the interactive whiteboard. The pupils have to match analogue and digital times as quickly as they can. They try to beat their previous time.
Our project is a novel study of 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson. We have been finding out about Plop's adventures as he tries to find out about the dark and how to overcome his fear of it.
We wrote fact files about barn owls. The pupils have learned lots of interesting facts about the appearance, habitat and diet of barn owls.
P2B - Term 1 2016/17 - Our Learning
We have been very busy in Primary 2B learning about our Fairytale Topic.
We designed and built castles using different materials and also on the computer.
We had fun making finger puppets and telling the story of ‘Little Red Riding Hood.
For our in the Beanstalk display we created the beanstalk by gluing and sticking tissue paper.
